Abstract
We develop a novel series of pre-fluorescent compounds based on pyridinium salts with different hydrophobicity and spectral behavior attached to a nitroxyl moiety.
The activity of these new probes are monitored by fluorescence and/or EPR spectroscopy.
We also investigate the importance of the distribution of the probe and substrate in microheterogeneous media in hydrogen-transfer reactions. We are interested in to study the distribution of these compounds depending on their hydrophobicities, an aspect which has been systematically ignored in previous evaluations of antioxidant activities. By employing a series of nitroxide derivatives and probes of variable hydrophobicities  we will be able to measure these effects in a systematic way. We hope to arrive at a more rigorous model for medium effects on hydrogen-transfer processes.
We also investigate the hydrogen transfer process by directly monitoring nitroxides with phenols with different hydrophobicities by employing electronic spin resonance techniques.

Abstract
My research work is focused on the design, synthesis and physicochemical characterization of catalysts, photocatalysts and polymeric materials for water purification and biomass transformation, under a concept of environmental awareness.
My experimental approach involves traditional synthetic strategies of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, using Analytical and Physicochemical tools for the characterization of the synthetized materials. The final objective is to obtain new semiconductors or polymeric materials with catalytic or photocatalytic activity under solar light, as green energy source.

Considering that a substantial number of biological process (both physiological and pathological process) are governed by carbohydrate-protein interactions and that the single interaction between a protein and a saccharide is weak, in the biological processes, multiple interaction occurs increasing global avidity of the system (phenomenon knowns as multivalence). The focus of her research is to design and synthetize multivalent systems with the capability of specifically interact with a specific proteins (combining both, a high affinity with a high specificity), followed by the determination of kinetic and thermodynamic parameters involved in the interaction. Without abandoning the perspective of using novel multivalent systems to detect cancer cell lines and/or destroy or disrupt the interaction of some specific pathogens.

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR), Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), Circular dichroism and spectroscopic measurements of exogen or endogen probes have been used for evaluating and characterizing carbohydrate-protein interactions.

Abstract
The reactivity of phenolic compounds towards free radicals is a matter of current interest that mainly arises from their potential use as antioxidants. In this way, we development methodologies with different probes to monitored the reactivity to free radical in homogeneous and heterogeneous environments.
Understanding the reactions and sinks of particle-bound genotoxic and mutagenic substituent PAHs is essential to assess the associated environmental exposure and risks. Therefore, the photochemical and photophysical properties of organic pollutant (nitroarenes, hydroxy-PHAs, dyes) in different environments give us information about the reaction path of these contaminants.
The study of the photophysical and photochemical parameters of the organic molecule using steady state and time resolve of absorption and emission spectroscopies to monitored the intermediate or transient species generated during the irradiation give us critical information of the process involved in homogeneous and heterogeneous system. Also, we use a spectrometric techniques in solid phase to Fluorescence (front phase) and Diffuse Reflectance using probe or integration sphere   Also, I am working in treatment of wastewater, where my research involved the degradation of potential carcinogenic and mutagenic organic compound, such as chlorophenols and dyes, using Photocatalysis heterogeneous process which is an Advanced Oxidation process (AOPs). My line research contemplate the use of well known semiconductors (ZnO and TiO2), and the use of modify semiconductor with dopants agents, nanosize scale, and hybrid materials with gold nanoparticles; with the purpose of extend the irradiation range of semiconductor (visible range of spectralSun). A relevant point is the evaluation of distribution of products (HPLC), evaluation of adsorption isotherms between the catalytic material and the compound of interest, and the kinetics parameters involved in the degradation process.
